| A water molecule is small and highly polarized. They are made up of two hydrogen and one oxygen atoms these are bent in a special way, not arranged in a line. For this reason, part of the molecule is positively charged and the other is negatively charged. The part that is negative is the oxygen, and the positive part are the two hydrogen atoms. Polar molecules tend to line up with each other, positive to negative, negative to positive, as do magnets. Properties of water contain polarity which is when they attach to eachother depending on their positive or negative charge. Also, water molecules expand and become less dense when it is at it's solid form. One more of it's properies is that water does not compress, which means that when pressure is added it does not change it;s shape. |
