| Who am I? I'm a 45 yo Englishman, living in the Tampa Bay area since 1983. I was born and grew up in Manchester, England in 1959. I worked in a factory at age 16 and served an apprenticeship in electrical power equipment, then went on to work on military power supplies for Ferranti computers. After I was laid off, and with little hope of finding work in the turbulent 1980's, I sold it all, and moved over here to the states in 1982 where I've been ever since. I have degrees in Electrical power engineering, and also Nursing. I have been a Registered nurse for 8 years. Quite a switch, huh? As a nurse I have worked in several hospitals, Home health, and also as a Hospice case manager and primary nurse in Tampa. I presently specialise in Bone Marrow Transplant/critical care at Moffitt Cancer center, Tampa Florida. Some may say nursing is a female career, but I enjoy it, and bring to it a different kind of strength and caring. You can be empathic, caring and still be strong. I may be born with traits that might be considered female, but you could never call me effeminate I am divorced, and have 2 sons, age 8 and 14yo. One lives in Tallahassee, the other is with me half the time. Both are smart kids, and I will make darn sure they have a dad to turn to. I have done a lot of things since my youth, and not much anymore which saddens me, but I'm not quite as young as I was, and the kids come first. I have skydived many times, have a pilots licence, sailed my own boat, owned many motorcycles, raced a factory built Yamaha race bike on the tracks of England, scuba dived and traveled. I hope to do a little more before I get too much older........... I live in the country on a couple of acres, and enjoy working on my British cars, an MGB and Jaguar. I love my house, as I can have big workshops on my land! No deed restrictions! If you need help with the Jaguar XJS, or the MGB, I have knowledge and quite a few parts. I have never smoked, (hate it), and enjoy a good quality English ale without being an obnoxious drunk. (Thanks, Publix) Don't watch much TV, (the kids dominate that) My idea of relaxation is fixing it or building it. Whatever it is. If you have Non Hodgkins Lymphoma, Multiple Myeloma, or similar, I will answer your questions about transplant. As I go through life, I try to be of some use to each person that I meet. I may need their help someday. |
