| I often flew little single engine planes, occasionally to the Bahamas. I took this little Piper PA-140 to Walkers key one weekend. Walkers Key is about 100 mls off West Palm beach Fl. It a single Hotel and a runway, the end of which is littered with the wrecks of planes that didn't make it off the ground. The weather turned nasty and I was lucky to get her down without joining them. I stuck to Bimini, further south after that, longer runway. The Piper was at max weight and the crosswind was 35 knots...not for the meek. |

| Before I left England, I raced on the racing circuits of England, even reaching the national levels, but eventually gave it up due to the huge cost of racing. Still had a lot of fun though. It's amazing when I look back, I know how important it was for me to do that, despite the danger and the cost. The picture below is from Snetterton in the south of England in 1981. otorcycles were the beginning of my freedom as a youth, and I still ride some today. I currently am rebuiling some early 1970's Hondas. |
