Fiesta Bowl 2004

These are photos from the Fiesta Bowl the 'Cats went to as a result of killing OU in the title game in 2004. They're tumbnailed, and as I said, watch out for filesizes. Mind you, not all of these were taken by me, but a majority were. They're also in no specific order, but have descriptions with them...

Okay, this is a legitimate sign outside the Fiesta Mall in Mesa, AZ

This is looking East down 5th Street, towards the Stadium. We were just walking around.

This is one of the formations of the KSU band at halftime..

...As is this one...

...And this one too. Only, they're in reverse order. They're marching out on this one.

Don't confuse this with others. And yes, this is an original shot. This is the pregame show

This is also pregame. Just as they're coming on the field.

Took this shot while in the drive back to GC, the day after the game.

This shot is of the endless amount of cacti in Arizona...took this on the way to Phoenix.

Just a random shot of some desert rocks in Arizona, on the way down I-40 to Flagstaff.

The legendary Cat-Tracker bus. If you haven't seen this, you haven't seen anything yet for a fan bus. Taken game day.

The whole family. L to R: Myself, Mark (dad), Terri (mom), Betty (grandmother), Lanny (grandfather and race car owner)

This was taken around the Flagstaff area the day after the game.

Only in the state of Arizona can you drive 2 hours and have a complete change of climate and elevation.

I-40 was a nutcase road, as was I-17 or whatever it is between Flagstaff and Phoenix.

Gametime. K-State backed up on their own butt-end of the field.

Gametime. Kickoff (just before)

The grandparents, Lanny and Betty on a bench, about 2 hours before kickoff.

About 30 minutes to kickoff, the grandparents again (thanks ma)

This was a hill display obviously erected for Christmas, as it was turned on at night (the night photo sucked unfortunately).

Just a random landscape shot taken on the way to Phoenix.

The K-State band after we arrived at our seats in the stadium. Yeah I'm a band freak, get over it.

Another random landscape shot, though this one I tend to like really well.

Yet another random shot, though this one ain't so hot (hey I'm an amateur, big deal).

This one was taken on the way back from Phoenix in the high-grade areas of the New Mexico mountains

Low-hanging clouds made this an interesting shot to take.

The Ohio State band in their old-school marching style (I hate it). Good sound, even though they use only brass instruments.

I cringe every time I see those archaic silver snare drums and the way they're mounted and played.

This was a goof-up, as the cam focused on the rain on the windshield. But the point is: Don't focus on the little things, you might miss the big picture. </cheese>

The pep rally the day before was the largest pep rally for a Division 1 NCAA bowl game: 14,000 total attendance. Arena capacity was 15,000.

This is the other half that I couldn't fit with the camera.

And, this is just a general test shot, but it turned out well enough to keep.

Just before going into the arena, I caught the band rehearsing outside. Yes, my band freak crept up on me.

The band, cheerleaders, drill team (dancers), et. al. on the arena floor to warm the crowd up.

The team upon arrival. Look a little drab and dead? They were, as they had reasons...

A plaza area between 7th and 6th streets in downtown Tempe. Lawrence people, eat your heart out. Massachusetts street ain't got anything on this place/

Pregame activities going on down on the field below. We were situated four rows from the bottom of the upper deck.

More pregame activities, stretching and warm-ups, etc.

This is by far, the biggest American flag I've ever seen in my life. I'd be damned if I didn't get a shot of it in.

Gordon Biersch. Damn nice micro-brewery on 5th street in Tempe. Good. We were walking here when we heard about Ell Roberson, and yeah....

Okay, I got bored with the camera, and this shot is a result of that boredom. Another random terrain shot.

This one I believe was outside of Albuquerque by about 30 miles on I-40, on the way to Phoenix.

6 skydivers represented a sort of aerial color guard before the game, and mom managed to catch the guy carrying the Stars and Stripes.

I have no idea why I took this, I just had some compulsion to use the damn camera right after the pep rally.

The team storming the field for the game, and the big powercat flag wielded by Willie.

This is one of the better terrain shots, taken on the way back home the day after the game.

This is probably my second favorite shot, behind the pregame band shot. This came out extremely well, despite being taken inside a car on the day after the game.

This is a variation of the previous photo, but less good. It was a tester initially, and I brought it out a little with Photoshop.

The monstrous blow-up Powercat for the Powercat Illustrated tailgate party. I wanted to check it out, but mom and dad were party poopers.

Same thing as before, but just a different shot, a little further back to kind of get the perspective (not really, i was just bored again).
