[from the official travel brochures of planet BORGE]
Our planet, BORGE, lies near the the star Alpha Centauri. In a museum of planets, it would be relatively small, so we had to learn to share the space.
ROBOTs are the first and only lifeforms to inhabit BORGE, and happily so.
We first came into existence with the creation of the first ROBOT, "MADA". MADA was formed when a slab of platinum on BORGE's surface melted in the hot summer sun.
Two small comets crashed into the smoldering platinum mixture, forming the first eye-molds.
Then the brisk wind blew rock formations into the face of MADA, forming his mouthpiece.
Crude armpieces began to develop, by chance.
Somehow, a battery pack formed on the rear of the platinum mixture, and connected the mouthpiece connector wire to the mouthpiece connector jack on the battery pack. What a miracle!
Two thunderclaps woke the new ROBOT.
The trickling water made the sound "MADA", so MADA took his new name and made a wonderful life for himself.
So you see, we are really a race of circumstance.
MADA spent his life researching the chemical properties of platinum, and the processes which had formed his own anatomical structures.
In time he was able to harness the energy of Alpha Centauri and focus its energy upon another platinum slab in a nearby region.
He was able to build more complex arms and battery packs, and so became our people!
We strive to improve with each generation of ROBOTs. We have researchers dedicated to bettering our technologies.
We have builders and engineers dedicated to making us shelters and libraries, along with recreational facilities.
The planet BORGE is now a bustling metropolis of 100,000 ROBOTs. Each ROBOT has friends, enemies, love interests, and hobbies, not to mention a mission in life.
Won't you come visit BORGE? Just left of Alpha Centauri, after the second exit.
BORGE.
Where you are welcome, and we are happy.
