Albion consolidated their 3rd place in the Premier Division with this comfortable win over Birkenshaw.  More importantly in the eyes of their coach, Paul Kirkham, they kept their line intact.

The scoring was opened in some style by Laura Ackroyd who then converted her try.  Saima Hussain and Jodie Billing also got on the score sheet with tries before Laura Ackroyd scored two more to make her hat-trick in the 1st half.  The final try of the half involved a long Sarah Gatenby break which Laura backed up to cross the line.  With all the tries converted by Ackroyd this put the score at the break 30-0.

After the restart it was more of the same.  Tracy Lynch took a quick tap and fed Saima Hussain.  The winger then jinked over the next 15m to score.  Laura Ackroyd converted.

On 46 minutes Jodee Loader stole the ball in a tackle 20m out from the visitors' line.  A few tackles later Laura Ackroyd crossed over.  She also added the kick.

Birkenshaw tightened their defence and kept Albion out for about 10 minutes.  Not that the Bradford side got anywhere, resolute tackling from the Cats, lead by Keira Burns, Jodie Billing and Laura Ackroyd snuffed out any possible attacks.

Tracy Lynch broke the temporary deadlock when she burst over from a short play-the-ball.  Laura Ackroyd converted.  On 63 minutes Sarah Cartwright went close to the line and gave Angie Pickard the opportunity to bulldoze her way over.  Laura Ackroyd got the extra 2 points.

On Albion's next foray towards the Birkenshaw line the ball went across the pitch through several pairs of hands before Jodee Loader straightened up and forced her way in.  Laura Ackroyd converted.

Finally on the 80th minute Leanne Ludlam was put through a wide gap by Laura Ackroyd and the big second-rower made the 30m to the line look easy.  Ackroyd added the conversion to make it 11 conversions from 11 tries.

All in all it was a pleasing team performance with local rivals Birkenshaw not getting a look in due to the ferocious defence put up by the whole team.

Next Sunday the Cats go to Hull Dockers in a dress rehearsal for their Challenge Cup semi-final the following weekend.
