Pennine League Division 3
Keighley Albion 12 Victoria Vikings 20

The Albion second string had to dig deep to put out a side against the top of Pennine Division 3 with both Glen and Neil Palmer being dragged out of retirement to make up a team of 15.   Albion opened the scoring when Mark Kellett scooted from a play-the-ball at 30m out and used his speed and strength to go over.  Kellett again had a hand in the second score when his well placed kick through enabled Ian Anderson to outpace the cover to score.  However Victoria Vikings hit back with a converted try just before the break to make the score 8-6.

The second half was all Victoria as the home side tired.  This fatigue wasn’t helped by 3 players being sent off towards the end and the Vikings ran in 2 more converted tries and kicked a penalty to put the match out of Albion’s reach.  However Chris Brookes did snatch a consolation try late in the game, forcing his way over at short range.

Albion can now look forward to the Christmas break to recoup after injuries but they will have to win all their remaining matches to have any chance of beating the Vikings to the top of Pennine Division 3.
