Dr Martin Grayson
I have been retired from full time chemistry for several years now but I am still researching and writing. I am a portfolio musician doing composing, teaching, publishing, playing and directing, mostly early music as well as my own compositions. The early music is published by Alfredston Music and the original compositions and arrangements by Sibelius Music and the International Music Score Library Project.

I have interests in composing for traditional classical ensembles such as string quartet, orchestra and classical guitar but I also write modern music for lutes, recorders and viols. I won the 2007 Viola da Gamba Society of Great Britain composition contest, which was to write an 'In Nomine', and this has inspired me to write more viol music, though I mostly write music for my regular ensembles.

You may still see the odd scientific paper with my name on it and I am involved in some open source projects and do a bit of scientific and computational consultancy when I get the chance.

My music can be listened to on Sibelius Music, using the Scorch plugin or you can find MP3 files at Composition Today.

Me on the beach at Barra in 2006. I hope to visit the outer hebrides again in 2008.
