I’ve been thinking a lot about my friends lately.
Many people rag on on-line friendships, saying that they are a waste of time, and so forth...but I don’t think that the people who say such things have ever had such friends or such experiences.
Somethings are more appropriate for personal (i.e., face to face) fellowship. By definition, fellowship is not internet based...at least, it is difficult to have the same kind of rich relationships, common understanding, opportunities for confession and correction, or sharing of burdens that we can have with other believers in our local church or at home.
But I know that I couldn’t make it through the day without my internet friends. I cherish the relationships that I have with Sparkles, Jeremy, Travis, Joshua and Charity. They lift me up, encourage me and make me giggle. They challenge me and spur me on towards love and good deeds.
During the work day, you can’t find much time for personal fellowship outside of the internet. When you work with unbelievers, you need to be refreshed by your family in Christ. So, I’ve found a family on-line. I don’t care if I never meet them; I will one day...but that’s not the point. As believers, we make a community, and it doesn’t matter where we gather, as long as we are together.
Where ever we are, He is there, and that’s all that is important!
