Rabbit Wars is a challenging game played to develop balance and leg strength. Martial Arts Plus usually plays a game of Rabbit Wars on Friday nights before Sport Warrior.
How to Play: Participants are divided into two teams, one on each side of the djy. The judge determines how many points are required to win and how many rounds will be played (ex. 3-points, maximum 5 rounds). When the command "kamaette" is given by the judge, each player takes the ready stance: knees bent completely, both arms behind the back, and hands holding onto belt.
After the judge starts a round, each participant may advance toward the opposition. Movement must be in the form of a hop, but is otherwise unrestricted.
In order to win, all the opposing team members must be eliminated. A participant is eliminated when any part of the body, except the feet, touches the ground or if the kamae stance is broken (e.g. by standing upright, purposefully removing hands from belt, etc).
During the course of the "battle" any participant may attempt to unbalance a member of the opposing team. This is usually done, but not limited to, shoving with the shoulders.
Note: hands cannot be used to unbalance a participant. Any use of the hands, such as grabbing, shoving, pulling, etc., will count as a penalty and the offending participant will be eliminated for the round.
When all of a team's participants are eliminated, the team with at least one member still in the game earns a point. The game continues until a team reaches the requisite number of points, or the maximum number of rounds are reached. The team that reaches the required number of points, or the team with the highest amount of points after the maximum number of rounds are played, is the winning team.
