UNRELEASED SONGS

Here are the lyrics to some of the Unreleased songs that Roy wrote/co-wrote  He would almost certainly have demo'd them on tape but not necessarily recorded to commercial standard, instead giving them to others to record instead.

There exists some 30 cds at Orbison Productions made up of unreleased material from Roy's 32 year career. They were shown to fans in December 1998 who visited the Orbison Building in Nashville and several of these songs were played to them by staff.

If we conservatively estimate just 10 songs per cd then we have 300 songs (about 50% of Roy's career unheard by his faithful following) Wouldn't it be a nice gesture by the Estate to get 'stuck-in' and do something positive to get these songs released to the fans. With today's technology any unfinished or damaged tape can be made good and there would be an army of well known artistes who would give their back teeth for a chance to 'duet' on a Roy Orbison Record. Equally top producers and sound engineers would be competing for the chance to finish off potential hits with the right equipment to do the job. It can be done if there is the will to do it......

Some of these songs were published in the 1970's Roy Orbison Songbook

If time permits I  may produce some midi files to give some idea of what they sound like.

LOOKIN FOR LOVE

  VERSE:
"Well, I've been a lot of places and I've seen a lot of things
But I ain't never found the girl of my dreams
I've been coast to coast and back again
But I'm lonely as I've ever been
New York, Frisco too Old Chicago even St. Lou
Been to Dallas and New Orleans
But I ain't never found the girl of my dreams
Well, I don't know where and I dont know when
This lookin' for love will ever end
But I'll keep searchin' everywhere til I find a
love that'll really care ("Well, I've......)

  2nd Chorus:
  New York, Frisco too
  Old Chicago, even St. Lou
Been to Dallas and New Orleans
But I ain't ever found the girl of my dreams

I've rambled around but I've never met
The one true love that you can't forget
So I'll travel on from town to town
Until my sweetheart can be found"

CHILD WOMAN, WOMAN CHILD
  (Orbison/Dees, 1969)

  1st Verse:
  Coocoo that's you,
  wonder why I love you
  You do voodoo
  Thunder clouds above you
  Crazy, kooky, lazy , spooky
  Oh, what a clown
  Always around
  And I have found
  You're a woman
  CHILD WOMAN, WOMAN CHILD
  Long legged woman,
when I see you walking you look good,
  ah - hum - hum,
  Hey, little woman,
when I hear you talking you sound good,
  ah - hum - hum
  CHILD WOMAN, WOMAN CHILD,
  you're driving me wild,
  CHILD WOMAN, WOMAN CHILD

  1st Chorus:

  You're into my mind,
then you're out of my mind,
  CHILD WOMAN
You wind and unwind my mind,
  Time after time,
  CHILD WOMAN
  Ooh, CHILD WOMAN
  Yeah, CHILD WOMAN
  Yeah, CHILD WOMAN
  CHILD WOMAN, WOMAN CHILD

  2nd Verse:

  Flying up tight
  Don't know where you're going
  Tying your kite
  When the wind is blowing
  Funny lady, sunny shady
  Off to the fair
  Sun in your hair
  Oh, you're aware you're a woman
  CHILD WOMAN, WOMAN CHILD
  Strong minded woman,
  When you start to grooving
You look fine, ah - hum - hum
  CHILD WOMAN, WOMAN CHILD
  You're driving me wild
  CHILD WOMAN, WOMAN CHILD

  CHILD WOMAN, WOMAN CHILD continues...

  2nd Chorus:

  I don't see you there
  I see you everywhere
  Child Woman
  I don't even care
  Yes, I really do care,
  Child woman
  Ooh, Child Woman
  Hey, Child Woman
  CHILD WOMAN, WOMAN CHILD

The Defector
  (Orbison/Dees/Morrow)

"It's the Bonnie and Clyde days, where the girls wear curls and lace,
And the boys can stand the pace of the war, its not the war but the cause
  the country's fighting for.
The seed of discontent is sown, they're burning cards back home, back home.
The old folks just ignore, the posters black with ink,..anymore. I'm not
sure what to think. Now I wonder why I'm on this foreign shore to find
peace of mind. For now I walk alone and it's no better, to leave than stay
and give more than I had to give. My life was not my own, the wife I've
never known.. I may never know, I may never go,..back home.
To the land of the free back home,..would there be a place for me, back
  home, back home!
Well, I always wonder why.....will they take me when I die..BACK HOME!"

BAD BOY(Roy Orbison, 1964)

When we walk by people stop and stare
they say that you don't care
  what people say about you
but I know that you do and I do to
but let them say what they may
  we'll find a way
to make our dreams come true
  BAD BOY BAD BOY
  I'll stand by you

I've heard them say you'll never change
that your bad and bad to stay
  your just that way
and there's nothing you can do
but my love for you will see me through
  and darling I'm so proud
so proud that I'll tell them out loud
that I'm in love with you
  BAD BOY BAD BOY.........

BARBARA (Orbison/Melson, 1960)

BARBARA bye bye won't be coming round tonight
why did you tell me all those lies
BARBARA although you say your lonely miss so
oh yeah well that's the way it goes
  BARBARA how could you
what did I do so wrong
  BARBARA oh would you
  do the same again

why did you tell me all those lies

  BARBARA how could you
