Please review the following information in its
entirety prior to calling to order butterflies.

The minimum order is one dozen butterflies of a particular type. They must be ordered at least two weeks prior to your event date. Rush shipping is not available under any circumstances.

Butterflies must be handled carefully. The temperature must be 62F or they will not fly (Painted Lady butterflies require a minimum temperature of at least 72F. Butterflies are always sent via overnight delivery to arrive the day prior to your event, with no exceptions. Someone should be available to receive the package. We cannot be held responsible for butterflies that die from exposure due to a package being left with no signature. The package must be opened and placed in a cool, dark place away from direct light until ready to transport to your event. This will keep them calm. If you have room in your refrigerator, place the cooler into the refrigerator (NOT THE FREEZER) overnight. When transporting the butterfly to your event, do not leave them in a parked car for more than a few minutes, particularly if it is a warm day, and remember to keep them covered and away from direct sunlight.

Complete release instructions are provided with your butterflies, whether you wish to have guests release them from their individual envelopes, or you'd like to have them released at once from a basket or box (available separately). Please review this information immediately upon receiving your butterflies so that there is no room for error.

We offer only the highest quality farm raised butterflies for release. We provide an additional butterfly per dozen ordered as casualties may occur. In the unlikely occurrence that you find any problem with your order, notify us immediately and we will make every effort to immediately correct the situation or refund your money for the expired butterflies once they are returned to us. Butterflies MUST be returned to us in order to receive a refund. If you see that the weather is not going to cooperate, we require a minimum of three days prior to your event to cancel your order and refund the full purchase amount. We don't penalize you for Mother Nature's indecisions!

FAQs:

When should I place my order?
Orders must be placed a minimum of 2 weeks prior to your event, with no exceptions. We take orders up to one year in advance and recommend ordering early to avoid any last-minute disappointments.

How many butterflies should I order?
The average order is 2 dozen butterflies per 50 guests. For an individual butterfly release, you can order one per guest or couple, or select certain guests to participate, such as the wedding party and family. Alternately, you can release several dozen butterflies at once from a basket or box, available separately.

How warm does it need to be to release the butterflies?
Butterflies will only take flight when the temperature is above 62F, but the warmer the better! Painted Lady Butterflies require at least 72F.

What if I place an order, but the weather turns bad?
If the forecast is unfavorable, call us AT LEAST three (3) days before the event, and we will gladly cancel the order and refund the full purchase amount.

Can I release butterflies at night?
There must be at least 30 minutes of light left once you release them so they can find a place to roost for the evening. To find the exact time the sun will set for your date and location visit http://aa.usno.navy.mil/data/docs/RS_OneDay.html.

How do the butterflies survive shipping?
Each butterfly is fed and carefully placed inside our triangular cardstock boxes for their safety. They are surrounded by soft padding and packaged in an insulated cooler with a cool-pack. The cool temperature combined with minimal light keeps the butterflies calm and naturally inactive during shipping. Butterflies are sent via overnight delivery to arrive the day before your event. Please be very careful when you receive your butterflies. They are delicate and tossing the box or individual butterflies around or crushing their box may result in their deaths.

What should I do when my butterflies arrive?
Complete instructions on how to care for and release your butterflies are included with your order.

What happens to them after I release them?
We ship butterflies approved for your area of the country so that only butterflies indigenous to your area are released. If you have flowers and host plants for the butterflies nearby, they may stay a while or even take up residence for the rest of the season!
