Little is known about Mara Jade's childhood, as she was taken from her family at a young age by the Emperor. The Emperor trained her to be his personal assassin and under his teaching he taught her how to handle a lightsaber and how to use her Force powers. She was also trained in markmanship, hand-to-hand combat, and espionage. Being able to use the Force she was able to communicate with the Emperor telepathically from anywhere in the galaxy. She was secretly known as the"Emperor's Hand." She was intrusted with the most dangerous and delicate of missions. Only a few high-ranking Imerpials knew of Mara's true position and purpose. When Han Solo was captured by Jabba the Hutt, the Emperor know that Luke Skywalker would go to rescue him, so he sent Mara to Tatooine to kill him. Posing as a dancer for Jabba the Hutt, she awaited for a chance to carry out her orders. However the chance she had been waiting for was never happened and Jabba told her to leave. She was then forced to admit failure and was sent on another mission. Days later the Emperor was killed on the second Death Star, but he didn't die without first giving Mara one last command to kill Luke Skywalker. Mara was left alone only with the need to kill Luke. Over the next couple of years Mara traveled around the galaxy taking on odd jobs in order to survive. It was while one of these strange jobs that she met Talon Karrde. Mara went with him and became a very important member of his crew. She was actually begining to emjoy life working for Karrde until one day they picked Luke Skywalker in his damages X-Wing and took him prisoner. With the threat of Grand Admiral Thrawn and the Jedi clone Jorrus C'Boath Mara was forced to work with Skywalker. On the mission to Wayland to destroy the Emperor's hidden cloning cylinders, Luke began to work with Mara on her ability with the Force. When they reach Mount Tantiss, they were confronted by C'Boath who had made a clone of Luke. Luuke, the clone of Luke, fought with Luke while Mara argued with C'Boath. Mara ended up killing Luuke and with that her need to kill Luke Skywalker. Soon after the battle at Wayland Luke asked Mara to join the New Republic and then gave her his father's old lightsaber the the clone had used. Although Mara didn't have the need to kill Luke anymore she decided that she had certain responsibilities with Karrde's group and stay with Karrde. Talon then formed the Smuggler's Alliance and eventually gave Mara control of the organization when he retired. While in charge of the Smuggler's Alliance she provided the New Republic and Luke with lots of information. She even went to Luke's Jedi Academy on Yavin Four for a short time. While there she became somewhat friends with Corran Horn and Luke, but then decided she had learned what she needed and left. Mara found herself helping Luke and the New Republic time after time when lots of new threats appeared and tried to destroy the Republic. Mara became a powerful ally to the New Republic and to Luke though neither of them realized it they were becoming closer. While on a missiont to find the Hand of Thrawn, she and Luke found themselves at the secret base that Grand Admiral Thrawn had set up incase aything happened to hi,. It's there that they meet a clone of Grand Admiral Thrawn. They killed the clone and during this adventure Luke and Mara realized that they loved each other. It was there that Luke propsed to Mara and she accepted his proposal. They continue on living togetjher and fighting the Yuzzy Vong even though Mara now has some kind of unknown disease.
