There are 2 options in regards to copyright.
Below are the options.

Option 1:   Collaborator/Demo Service (percentages 70/30)
Cost: $100.00 per lyric

You will receive your lyric with a melody (music) and I will retain 30 percent copyright to the music that I produce for your lyric. This does not include the lyric by itself, but rather the lyric with the melody (music) and the music alone that I produce.

EXAMPLE OF AGREEMENT

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN
On this date 9-5-01, the following song, SONG TITLE was a collaorative work of YOUR NAME at 70% and Johnny D. Marquez at 30%. Percentages include lyrics with melody.
    YOUR NAME is the sole writer of the lyrics. YOUR NAME may collaborate with another composer and use the lyrics to SONG TITLE, he/she is not bound by this contract to only use the melody produced by Johnny D. Marquez for SONG TITLE.

1. SONG TITLE

This demo was produced & performed by Johnny D. Marquez

This contract only constitutes the percentage of songwriter copyright percentages and does not contain any release of performer and producer rights of said demo

OPTION 2: WORK FOR HIRE AGREEMENT
Cost: $400.00

With this agreement I will release all rights to you in regards to the music that I produce. It is more expensive than option number 1 but with it you retain all rights to the lyrics and the music for your lyrics as it is a "work for hire" agreement rather than a demo service.

Due to the many questions regarding copyright I have decided to spell out exactly what I offer. Although I've always been upfront with what I do, I felt that I owed it to you the lyricist the exact nature of what I offer. Below you will find that information. I hope it is helpful in your decision making as to whom you'd like to demo your lyrics.

There are many demo services who will release the music they produce for you for a very low price. I do not believe that I produce demo's of this sort. I believe I have my own style and therefore will not produce a demo that I will not stand behind.
