| Maroesjka is a Dutch folkloric dance association with roughly 110 members, forming a number of dancing groups and founded in 1979. Traditionally the Dutch are very interested in dances from all over the world, but hardly in their own. Except one of the Maroesjka groups. This so-called "demogroup" consists of a number of enthusiast men and women who exclusively practice Dutch dances with the main goal to perform on stage. The dances are both old authentic and newly made, but always adapted in choreographs or series to give the best visual effect on stage. And of course, always with life music. Apart from the dancing costumes, good copies of original costumes from all over the country, the group could as well organize a folkloristic costume show with original costumes from the whole country. So far the group has participated in folkloric festivals in Portugal, Spain, France, the Czech Republic, Belgium, Germany, Poland and Hungary and of course performed many many times in the Netherlands. Are you interested to invite us, we are always open for discussion, so please contact Els Roemer: [email protected] or call her: +31 40 2377760, you are very welcome. Maroesjka themselves did organize as well a biannual International Folkloric Festival, from 1990 till 2007. Due to different circumstances this has ended. |
