Left Eyelid Revision
October 10, 2008
(6th Surgery)
This surgery was done to raise my left upper eyelid. I was sedated but awake. They had these new patient gowns that were so cool. They had inflatable tubes inside them where they hooked up a hose and it kept warm air circulating. Much better than a blanket that hundreds of others have used! My doctor probably wants to strangle me by now. When i'm sedated but conscious, I ask a million questions. I was asking, "Are you cutting my eyelid now? Are you stitching the muscle?  Did you fix the double crease?" I'm sure that was annoying while she was trying to do this procedure! It took a bit longer than it should because at first, my eyelid was raised to much, then not enough, etc. I assume she had to work fast before the swelling started to get real bad. I'm writing this 2 days after the procedure and I am very swollen. Part from the lidocaine and part from surgery itself. I'm sure it will be at least another week or so to see how it looks! The pictures below are almost 4 months after my orbital decompression. I have learned to train my eyes (squint, look at object in a certain way) so I don't have the scary TED stare. That is why my eyes look so different in pictures.
