Rhinoplasty Complication
After 3 months of healing from the first surgery, a second procedure was performed to lower my eyelids. This was done with a local anesthesia block. I was sedated but in a twilight state. An incision was made in each eyelid from corner to corner and the levator muscle (controls position of eyelid) was readjusted. Excess skin, fat and scar tissue was also removed. I had to be in a semi-conscious state because I had to be able to sit up while my eyelids were being adjusted. I had to be able to blink and look in all directions while my doctor tried to make my eyelids as even as possible with eachother. Although I felt like a string puppet, I found this quite interesting. I was sitting up, cracking jokes, while the string was sewn in my eyelids, hanging down to my chin and being tugged on for adjustments. It sounds painful, but I didn't feel a thing. Once that part was over, I remember them putting the eye protectors back in and I fell back asleep.

My left eyelid is problematic. It needed to be raised and I elected to have this procedure done in the office rather than an operating room. I have a high tolerance for pain and the effects of anesthesia seem to stay with me for a few weeks. My eye area was numbed and an incision was made along the same line as my prior surgeries. I can feel the difference more than i can see how much my eyelid was raised. When I am tired, reading or in the sun, I can feel my eyelid being lazy.
