My Changes to My Personal Website

The very first change I made to my website after reading the SpiderPro Styleguides 100 Dos and Don'ts was to make a link from each one of my pages back to my homepage. I do not find it a problem to use the back button on my computer. However I realize if a person did not start at my homepage finding it could become difficult. I am not above a little constructive criticism. While I was making links I decided to link all of my "Fun" pages together so accessing them would be easier. I find that centered links at the end of the page are much more visually attractive so I was pretty through in the placement of each link.

I added a date to all of my pages since SpiderPro and the The Yale C/AIM Style Guide recommended it.

In placing the links I discovered that one of my links lead to the wrong site so I repaired that in the process.

I added a totally random page of my favorite Oscar pictures.

In order for you to get to this page I created a new page to preface this for homework assignment- The Homework Page I didn't want the "Homework" pages to be viewed in the same light as the "Fun" pages. I realize that such a distinction was a little odd but the concept behind work and play is age old. This page itself is more formal than any other page I have created so far. Looking ahead I am also planning to link the final group project from this English 328 class (a grading system of websites) from the Classwork page. Both projects are supposed to be accessible from our original homepage. The Classwork page itself is a page of triumph showing my joy about the upcoming end of the semester and all of its projects of all kinds and classes. Finishing the class I am writing this for is finishing the most time consuming class I have had yet in college. I am, like most students, lazy enough to get by. (j/k)

As I am writing this I have not yet used HTML software to edit my website because of four things.

  • First over the last three weeks I have been working on a show and have not had the time to go to the computer labs. (That was the big reason)
  • Second I have never worked with raw HTML before and I think it is interesting.
  • Third I didn't really have the time or the space to download some huge software file off the Internet.
  • Forth Geocities decided to freak out on me.

If you strike out more than four times with a schedule as busy as mine has been lately GIVE UP AND USE WHAT YOU GOT! If I had the time and the software I would have many more graphics as themselves and as links but I have no time to figure that out with raw HTML.
