This season we would like to welcome Indian professional Hrishikesh Kanitkar. The 28 year old is a left handed bat and right arm off break.
I have been doing my research and it seams that Thornaby Cricket Club have a player that has played 34 one day internationals and also 2 test matchs for India. In another section of a web site in there verdict Kanitkar is "A nice useful all rounder".
In history Hrishikesh will be remembered with his winning boundard off Saqlain Mushtaq in fading light in India's memorable win over Pakistan at Dhaka in January 1998, when the team were chasing a 300 plus target in the Indeoendance Cup final.
In another statement it states "Kanitkar is a fine utility player, the kind who is indispensable in the one day game and could also be useful in Test cricket". Hopefully Thornaby will benifit from having such a cricketer at our club!
Hrishikesh is a left handed bat labelled as "gutsy" on another web site as well as an "accurate" right arm off spinner and "brilliant versatile fieldsman".
Kanitkar has also represented his country at India A, actually captaining his side that flown half way around the world to Australia playing the West Indies.
