As Good as Gold!

It doesn't matter where you were last Sunday if you are Canadian we were all watching the same thing!  AND LOVING EVERY SECOND OF IT!  The situation really couldn't have been better, it has almost been a week and I am still on cloud nine.

The situation here:
"It must have been weird being in the Dominican eh?"
Well if by weird you mean absolutely incredible, then yeah I suppose it was.

Three hundred plus people jammed into the satellite bar eating some of the best wings that I have found anywhere in the world.
Jeering the 6 Americans in the bar.
Getting full use out of my toque and mittens.
    An intermission carnival.
Running into the ocean immediately after the anthem was played to continue the celebration.

To be honest I am not feeling too creative today, so I will just have to hope these pictures tell the story better than I can!

Canada goes up 2-1!

I'll drink to that!

This was perfectly timed with the second intermission.  Lent is a crazy time in the Dominican Republic and Carnivals are big things!  These guys were celebrating in front of the bar.  Celebrating involves wearing crazy costumes and masks, dancing in the streets and whipping people in the but with inflated pig bladders, it is hilarious.  In fact on the 27th (Independence Day here) I went to La Vega where the biggest carnival is held (pictures coming, when I have a minute)

I console my friend Jerry (one of the six Americans)

I will be relishing these for the next four years!
