Due to the overwhelming buzz about this movie, I think it had to be a standout of '06, regardless of how the movie actually turned out.

The Matty Award:
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
It's just the movie I anticipated and enjoyed the most.

Pirates of the Caribbean is really just two hours and twenty minutes of escapism. It is a true spectacle of a movie with great characters and acting. In the theatre when I first saw this movie I found myself enjoying it for it�s over the top special effects, hilarious moments and scantily clad Keira Knightly. This movie kicks ass, it has fucking pirates for gods sake. Yes, Pirates 2 has some sloppy storyline moments and maybe it is not as smart or life altering as a movie of the year award deserves to go to. However it is a huge blockbuster movie and it is really a movie that is simply to be enjoyed and at the end of the day that�s the best compliment a movie can be given.
