| Following a long line of legendary musicians to emerge from the Manchester scene, Her Majesty's Pleasure were formed in 2003 on the back of a wave of long smokey nights in the damp of 5 Burlington Road basement. Although many tried, few made the grade, and it was left to John McCarthy to drive the beats, Alex Green to lead the guitars and the precocious R Kennedy brothers to guitar and vocals. Long-standing admirer Mark "The Griff" Griffin stepped in on bass to complete the jigsaw that is HMP. Riffs were bandied about, concepts argued over, weapons played. Out of the chaos emerged the HMP sound. Using funk-oriented basslines to drive sing-a-long melodies and harmonies, a unique style was born. Meanwhile HMP have developed an array of songs which have true variety and durability. After being spotted by a number of rogue promotors, HMP's long awaited entrance to the North London indie scene became reality in 2005. Playing a variety of venues such as Caernarvon Castle and Storm HMP quickly established a North London following comprising friends, music lovers, hoodlums and hangers'on. Frustrated by live performances only, the band was driven into the studio by angry fans. After long and heated sessions in a dark Hornsey studio the EP was born. Fans subsequently gorged themselves on rock opener "Come On," breezy "When the Heat Drops" and fans favourite "Whose Side Are You On?"
