Lutheranism

Introduction

Martin Luther’s protest and criticism of the Catholic Church, especially for the selling of indulgences (particularly those sold in order to fill the coffers in Rome) is a historical landmark and a beginning for what is now known as Lutheranism.  Luther’s protests, although not unique, were the first major ‘successes’ of the Reformation period.

As I understand the term, reformation would depict a process of forming again, anew.  As such, I feel it was, at least in the beginning, an attempt to push the Catholic Church back onto a straighter path.
