25. The Holy Spirit

1. Member of Godhead - Mt 28:19, IJn 5:7-8,

2. “He” - Jn 14:16-17, 16:13; Ac 8:29.

3. Gave us God’s word - IIPe 1:21.

4. “Sword of Spirit” is “Word” - Eph 6:17.

5. Holy Spirit Baptism - occurred twice:

1. On Pentecost - to give power to the apostles - Ac 1::8; 2:1-4.

2. At Cornelius’ house - to show that Gentiles are accepted - Ac 11:15-18; 15:7-8.

6. Paul later wrote that there is now only “One Baptism” - Eph 4:4.

7. Baptism in the name of Christ is water baptism - Ac 2:38, 10:47-48.

8. It is commanded of everyone - Mt 28:19, Mk 16:16.

9. Promised - Lk 24:49.

Does the Holy Spirit dwell us in presence or in person?

Does He dwell in us personally (directly) or representatively (indirectly)?

What does the term metonymy mean? How does it apply to Ac. 2:38?

26. The Church

1. The Church is the “Body of Christ.” Eph 1:22-23, Col 1:18, 24???.

2. There is one body - ICo 12:12-13, Eph 4:4-6, Col 3:15.

3. “Churches of Christ” - Ro 16:16.

4. Saved “Added by the Lord” - not voted in - Jn 15:19, Ac 2:47, IIJn 1:9-10.

5. Religious division is sinful.REF!!

27. The Kingdom

1. “At hand” - Mt 3:2.

2. To come in first century “with Power” - Mk 9:1.

3. But “Power” to come with Holy Ghost - Ac 1:8.

4. Happened on the day of Pentecost - Ac 2:1-4.

5. Kingdom in existence in Paul’s day - Col 1:13.

6. It is the Church - Mt 16:18-19.

So, what is the kingdom? Is it an earthly kingdom?

Do these passages support the concept of pre-millenialism? Explain.

28. Fruits of the Spiritual Life

1. Salvation - IPe 1:8-9.

2. Peace - Isa 32:17, Jn 14:27.

3. Love, joy, peace, patience, etc. - Gal 5:22.

4. Glory, honor & peace - Ro 2:9-11.
