The middle of the three brothers, Kato is an expert with the spear whether in hand to hand combat or thrown. He is also the best at stealth and surprise attacks, and will, whenever possible, hide himself before any conflict so as to attack by surprise. Kato will use any strategem to gain an advantage. This approach sometimes brings him into conflict with his elder brother, who still holds somewhat to the notions of Bushido. However, their mutual bond has so far been sufficient to overcome these disagreements
