Monday  10/16/00 SWBAT: write a journal entry for chapter 21 ; read and discuss chapter 22
Procedure 1. Have students copy down their homework from the board into their assignment pads. Pass out the vocabulary handouts and read the directions with them. Have the students put the worksheet in their binders

2. Hand out journal entry sheet. Have students compose a journal entry for chapter 21 quietly for 5-10 minutes

3. Students are to read chapter 22. Students are to complete a prediction chart for chapter 22.

4. If there is extra time, the students can start their homework

Tuesday 10/17/00 SWBAT: familiarize themselves with vocabulary for TS
Procedure 1. Place answers to Monday's vocabulary homework on the board

2. Hand out vocabulary list #4 ; read the definitions very clearly to the students; announce to the kids that they will have a vocabulary quiz for these words on Friday; have the students place the vocabulary sheet in their binders

3. Hand out study guide for chapter 23; read over questions to the students

4. Have the students silently read chapter 23 ; if you want, you can read chapter 23 to the students; please do not pick students to read; they will sit quietly and listen to you; I prefer to read half the chapter to the students and then have them read on their own

Wednesday 10/18/00 SWBAT: critically view a video on the life and times of Mark Twain
 Procedure 1. Hand out Mark Twain A & E project

2. Show A & E video --please DO NOT remove the video from the VCR; this way it will not get lost

Thursday 10/19/00 SWBAT: compare and contrast Tom's actions and decisions through completion of a graphic organizer and writing

Friday    10/20/00 SWBAT: write about TS through viewing art ; discuss chapter 25
Procedure 1. Art

2. Read Ch. 25

Homework Read chapter 26-27; complete prediction chart for each chapter
