The pictures are organised by location:
Ladakh Ladakh is the Tibetan part of India, in the province of Jammu and Kashmir.
Bombay The city of Bombay is on the west coast of the country. Most of the pictures included here were taken during the Ganesh festival of the summer of 1997.
Hampi and Ajanta Hampi (also known as Vijayanagar) is a ruined city in the southern province of Karnataka. Ajanta is the site of a decorated cave complex.
Kerala Kerala was historically important for its production of spices. Boat trips along the backwaters and the distinctive style of murals are among its main attractions.
Khajuraho The temples of Khajuraho are famous both in themselves and for their exotic decorations.
Orchha Orchha is a small town near Khajuraho, with a number of abandoned palaces and other buildings.
Agra This city is of course the site of the Taj Mahal, as well as the former capital, Fatehpur Sikri.
Jaipur Jaipur, in Rajahstan, is known as the "Pink City" for its distinctive architecture.
