Greetings!!! And so another week has passed....28 days until the marathon....and still I still need to raise $5,500 to hit my target....I am fired up to put on a serious push over this last month!
It was a good weekend of training....I ran 20 yesterday and about 11 this morning (in San Antonio). Jackie and I drove to San Antonio yesterday afternoon so my run this morning managed to work about 3 miles along the river walk into its course....so beautiful running there in the early morning (with not one person out there). We had a great time in San Antonio. So about two weeks back I pulled a muscle in my leg that seems to be getting more aggravated as I get deeper into training. I always feel like one of the keys to getting ready for a marathon is running through the nagging injuries that will hit you. When you are putting in long miles injuries are inevitable and so of course excuses not to train become easy to find. But the reality is running through the slight strain or pull has always seemed to prepare me well for the unknown of race day. So for now I run on....
So Saturday, Feb. 3 was Morgan's 4th birthday. Morgan is Ryleigh's big sister (and so another beautiful niece of mine and the Flower Girl from our wedding). Jackie and I missed her party in Shreveport but as I ran mile after mile on Saturday I thought back to the first time I met Morgan in early 2004. At the time I had just met Jackie two weeks earlier. Morgan at the time could not talk or walk and yet I fell in love with her instantly. I felt as though I had known her her whole life. Now three years later, Jackie and I are married and I am lucky to call Morgan my niece. Today I think of Ryleigh not yet a year old (and I have known her her whole life) and I look forward to celebrating every one of her and Mo's birthday's and watching her grow just as I have watched Morgan. What a blessing it is to watch a person develop like that and to be a part of their life.
Lord please look over Morgan and Ryleigh and let them grow strong together.
Have a greet week!
