Some time in the summer of this year, Retta, Celisse and I packed up the ol' wagon and headed to the Tonto Natural Bridge.  It is just 10 miles north of Payson.  It was a nice hike, and it was also great to get out of the city for a day.

Our adventure begins with me and Retta at the top of the Tonto Natural Bridge.
This is a crappy scan of a rather nice picture.  Here you can see the bridge and the water coming out of the rock.  Below that is bacically a huge hole in the side, gling all the way through.
Us again, headed under the bridge.
Retta and her sister Celisse, not knowing what danger lies ahead.
It was nice at the bottom, with a little creek running through.
As I said, you could see clear through to the other side.
Retta and Celisse brave the danger, knowing that the cave could collapse at any minute.
Retta: You recognize any of this?
Celisse: Duh...
Wait a minute . . . this is a man-made bridge!
We made it!  By the way, those port-a-johns were some of the nastiest things I've ever seen.
