705 NAS
Royal Navy Helicopter Display Team
"Sharks"
Hunting Aviation
I joined 705 NAS as a 'Flight Line Mechanic" in 1992 working for Hunting Aviation. By the time I had left the squadron in 1996 I had become a supervisor Airframe/Engines and F.S.I. I had also been on many trips with the display teams all over Europe. I even had the chance of flying from the P2 seat on many occasions an  experiance I will never forget, thanks to all the pilots that allowed me the pleasure as it would cost me thousands now to repeat that experiance. The squadron operated Gazelle HT2 Helicopters for pilot training but also used them for display purposes with the "Sharks Helicopter Display Team" later to become the "Royal Navy Helicopter Display Team" due to M.O.D. cut backs.
705 has a tremendous history of pilot training. All the Royal Navys pilots completed thier training on the squadron from the year dot using many different aircraft types and hopefully I will be able to find some history of the squadron to put on this page. Any way I hope you bare with me as this page progress's
Many thanks

If there are any EX 705 people out there and you have any history or photos please contact me via the e-mail address at the bottom of the page.
705 left R.N.A.S Culdrose in 1997 as the new DHFS opened at RAF Shawbury the Gazelles got "Mothballed" and the new aircraft used for flying training became the Euorcopter Squirrel HT1 and the twin engined Bell Griffin HT1, but 705 still survives as the Navy training squadron
The "Old 57" Gazelle meets its replacement the "New 57" Eurocpoter Squirrel HT1.
I took this picture after delivering the last of the Gazelles to RAF Shawbury for storage with Mick Oliver and Bob Tuckwell back in 97
