There are many things which capture my interest, therefore sometimes I appear quite scatterbrained! But there four things which capture my interest the most-my jeep, firearms, computers and woodworking.
That said, I must admit to a possibly terrible character flaw; I'm a fixer. Whenever I perceive something seems to be broken, I try to fix it. While this has produced some very interesting, last minute, nick of time fixes, it has also proven to be somewhat of a downfall. Women, for example, don't like being "fixed". They'd rather know that you're listening.
Not always does something have to be broken to need fixed. At an early age I started taking things apart. Being the novice that I was, I wasn't always able to restore the objects of my obsession back to their previously proper working condition. Obviously, the assorted mix of various devices laying about with missing or mixed parts, some working, others not, left an indelible impression on the other members of my family (translated-eccentric).
Firearms-Mainly, I like shooting them. I've been shooting since I was an early teen, I caught the bug early I guess. My first shotgun was a Remington 870 Wingmaster 12 gauge. I could bag whatever I pointed it at. I also like to hunt, which I got to do for the first time in a while this year. I'd like to thank my buddy Bob for helping to make it happen. We weren't successful but I sure had fun. Recently, I received a part I've been waiting for that has returned another of my collection back to working order. It's been years since my AR-7 has fired a round. Now, thanks to Numrich's and a little over $15, it's ready to go hunting again.
Computers- I certainly had some fun learning how these work. My first computer was an old Radio Shack Coco III with a cassette tape drive. Bought it and all the accessories for $100 in '89 from a co-worker. Come a ways since then, I guess. While by no stretch of the imagination could anyone ever call me a guru, some folks are still disillusioned enough to call me when they have computer issues.
Woodworking- My sanity restored! When working on a project, I can be in the garage or out back and not really have to worry about the phone or anything else.
