X-Files Voyager Crossover (Untitled for now)

By: Monica Edwards

Rated: Don’t know yet, probably R

Author’s and Historical Note: This does take place in the year 2007, it doesn’t effect Voyager much but it does effect X-Files. Now if you are an X-Files fan you know about crappy season 7 and 8 and 9. So lets pretend like seasons 7, 8, and 9 never happened. That Mulder and Scully just continued investigating X-Files and none of that mythology crap happened. That’s probably the only way that this story is going to work….everyone understand? Alright moving on.

Disclaimer: I do not own X-Files or Voyager, neither am I associated with anyone who does own X-Files and Voyager. I wish I did cause then Seven of Nine would be with Janeway and Scully wouldn’t have had Mulder’s baby (Come on we all know William ruined the show) if you wonder where I get my ideas, or other stupid facts, repeat to yourself it’s just a story and I really should relax.

Monica lit up another cigarette and paced outside the door to the guest bedroom in her estate. She lived in Cuyahoga falls which was situated in Ohio. Being that her parents had died four years ago and left her the family fortune, she really had nothing better to do then work on her conspiracy theories with people she met in chat rooms on the net. This time she had something major to report, and so she contacted her friends in Washington D.C. Langley, Byers, and Frohike. She didn’t know them by any other name but she didn’t really care, she knew they had a connections in the underground government and she was thinking she was going to need someone to come and check out her discovery. She held the phone tightly in her left hand as her right hand moved the cigarette to and from her lips.

Langley I’m serious, there’s a woman and an android in one of my guest rooms,” Monica said, trying to be quiet. “I found them in a spaceship outside in the woods, the crash woke me up.” She took a drag from her cigarette and exhaled slowly as her friend Langley tried to calm her down. He went on to explain that he didn’t know if he believed her or not. Monica was getting annoyed, she did only know them online and over the phone after all, what reason did he have to believe her.

“…and you saw this spaceship with your own eyes?” Langley said after another moment, Monica rolled her eyes and took another drag from her cigarette.

“Yes, I was inside it, I carried the woman inside. As for the android, she was just barely conscious so I helped her limp inside, they are both passed out on the bed. Hang on I’ll get my camera and upload a few pictures for you okay?” Monica said and then hurried down the hall to her bedroom where she had left her camera last. She grabbed it from the desk and then went back to the guest room and took two pictures and then went back into her bedroom to get her laptop. “The photos I am sending will be encrypted, but you know the drill.”

“Yeah yeah…” Said Langley not sounding like he believed her even though the pictures were well on their way to his computer, there was a pause and some typing sounds then a gasp, “Whoa!”

“She’s hot!” Monica heard Frohike say in the background.

“I have some friends who can be up there right away…don’t let them go anywhere.” Langley said and then hung up the phone. Monica hated when he did that and she looked at the phone before turning it off and setting it down on the bed. She shut her computer and unhooked the camera before standing up and walking back over to the desk where she shoved it into a drawer. Then there was a soft tapping at the door which made her jump slightly. She was used to being alone, the only things that made noises in that house were her dogs and the horses she kept in the back yard. She turned around to see the android standing there looking a little frazzled.

“I did not mean to startle you but I believe my traveling companion needs a doctor.” The android looking woman said to her. Monica took a few steps towards her and traced her perfect body over with her eyes. The only thing that was out of place on the woman was her blond hair, but her ice blue eyes were very intense and Monica felt almost drawn into them.

“I understand, but I saw your spaceship, you are going to have to tell me who you are.” Monica replied and then stepped up closer to the android and held out her hand, “My name is Monica Edwards, this is my estate.” The woman looked at her, down at her out stretched hand, and then back to her face. A look crossed her face as if she was trying to compute what she was supposed to do with the hand, or at least that’s how Monica translated it. Finally she took the hand in hers and shook it firmly before letting go.

“I am Seven Of Nine, you may call me Seven.” She said and then released Monica’s hand, “if you would take me to my ship I’m sure there are supplies in there that could help my friend.”

“Yeah I’ll take you there, you aren’t a prisoner here but um, I don’t think that you would want to go out in public.” Monica replied and then started to walk out of the room motioning for her new friend, Seven, to follow her. She quickly fell into step behind Monica and followed her down the stairs through the hallway and into the kitchen. “You want any food? Something to drink? Do you even eat?”

“I do not require food at the present, I just need to get to my ship.” Seven replied, Monica shrugged slightly and then opened the door in the kitchen that lead to the back yard. There was a field out there that was fenced in where her horses were grazing. Behind that were acres of forest, amazingly the ship had crash landed in a clearing not very far from the house. Seven walked outside in front of her and looked at the three horses that were grazing. “You have horses.”

“Was that a question?” Monica asked not being able to ascertain whether that was just a factual statement or not.

“Then we are on Earth.” Seven said and turned to look at her. Monica’s eyes went wide and she nodded slowly. Who ever programmed this Seven Of Nine was clearly insane, either that or she was just really stupid, at least that’s what Monica was thinking.

“Yeah, you see this is the only planet we’ve ever been on. Some would say we’ve landed on the moon but I don’t believe that shit.” Monica replied and then laughed. She walked past Seven and started to head to the trail that would lead them to the clearing. Seven slowly walked over to the wooden fence that kept the horses in and put her hands on top of it. “You coming or what?” Monica asked as she stopped and turned to see what Seven was doing.

“Could you tell me what year this is?” Seven asked slowly. Monica reached into her back pocket and pulled out a pack of cigarettes. She took out one of the white sticks and put it in her mouth before placing the pack back in her pocket. She then started to fish around in her front pocket for the gold Zippo she always kept with her.

“2007….you know whoever programmed you did a bang up job there Seven.” Monica answered and then removed the lighter from her pocket and lit the cigarette. She jammed the lighter back into her pocket making a mental reminder to herself that it was in the right pocket of her jeans and not the left. Seven ran her hands over the wood like she had never seen it before. “You wanna see your ship or not?”

“No one programmed me, I am a human being.” Seven said and then walked over to her, “Now lets go to the ship.” Monica took a drag from her cigarette and started to walk, Seven stayed next to her. She guessed it was possible that Seven was a human being but then what was with all of the metal? As far as she could deduct, these two women were from the future. They arrived in a space ship and Seven seemed rather shocked to find out they were on Earth, well as shocked as she probably ever got, Monica doubted she had a wide range of emotions.

“If you’re human what’s with all the metal and junk?” Monica asked as they walked, she took another drag on her cigarette and tried not to stare at the vision of loveliness that was walking beside her.

“I do not believe I can discuss that without violating the prime directive.” Seven responded, before Monica could follow up with a reply they reached the clearing and Seven darted ahead of her and went to the ship. The doors were open still, because Monica had to pry them open to get them out of there. She watched as Seven ducked inside and then came out holding a kit with a caduceus on it. She assumed it was some sort of first aid kit. Without saying a word Seven walked back out of the ship and back down the path that had led them there. Monica took her time walking back, even when Seven disappeared from sight. She assumed that now that Seven knew they weren’t in their own time period there was probably little chance that she was going to try to leave and get help.

When she reached the house she dropped her cigarette on the step outside of the back door and stepped on it before entering the kitchen. She got out two glasses from the cupboard and then opened the refrigerator and pulled out a pitcher of lemonade. She poured two glasses, then picked them up and headed for the back set of stairs. She started to whistle softly, and made her way up the stairs and to the guest bedroom where Seven most likely was taking care of her friend. She knocked on the door, to be polite, then opened it and stepped inside. The other woman was now sitting up and completely conscious.

“I got some lemonade if anyone is interested.” Monica said, Seven turned to look at her and the woman who was on the bed smiled softly.

“Anything cold to drink would be heaven right now.” The woman said and so Monica walked over to her and handed her a glass. She held one out to Seven who didn’t make any attempt to take it, so she shrugged and took a few big gulps herself. She watched the other woman down about half of the glass and then set the rest of it down on the table next to the bed. “I’m Kathryn Janeway, who are you?” Monica smiled, at least this Kathryn woman had a set of manners.

“Monica Edwards,” She said and then held out the hand that wasn’t holding the glass of lemonade. Janeway took it and shook it firmly. “You are in my house, I found you in your spaceship so I know something is going on. There is no sense in hiding the truth from me.” She added and was, of course, serious about that. She did want to know the truth, besides any one she could tell would either not believe it or equate it to some sort of government conspiracy. She had very little friends, none of whom lived within 100 miles of her. She spent her days alone in her house, working on a book that would never be published, and chatting online with other conspiracy theorists. Janeway looked at Seven and then back at Monica. The two women had some sort of unspoken bond and being a lesbian herself, Monica could make an educated guess about the nature of their relationship.

“You’re right, there is no sense in my lying. I am a captain on a starship called Voyager. I am not quite sure how we ended up here but we did. We are from well into 300 years in the future.” Kathryn said and Monica nodded slightly. She didn’t know if she could believe any of this, but all of the evidence was shoved into her face. How could she not believe a spaceship that had crashed into her back yard? How could she not believe that whatever Seven Of Nine was, that she was not from the future?

“Okay then. You are welcome to stay here and do whatever you want to help you get back. I live alone no one is going to bother you here, hell I’m about fifteen miles from the nearest house. I’ll do anything I can to help.” Monica said and then took another drink of lemonade as she thought about going down to the kitchen to get some vodka to add to it.

“We appreciate the hospitality.” Janeway said and then looked at Seven again, “Can I have a moment alone with her please?”

“Yeah sure, I got some friends coming over that might be able to help you, but they are the only ones that know you are here, I made sure of that.” Monica said, “Trust me I’m more paranoid about security here then the secret service.” She actually didn’t know the names of the people that Langley was sending over but she trusted him and she knew he wouldn’t send over a swarm of reporters or policemen or anything. Janeway didn’t look like she was very happy about that, but she didn’t try to complain. Monica could tell that she wanted to have a word alone with Seven so she walked out of the room.

Monica didn’t bother them for the next few hours. She sat in her kitchen having a mixture of vodka and lemonade. Well it was more vodka then lemonade but she was a heavy drinker to begin with and she wasn’t chugging glass after glass. She was sipping them while smoking a pack of Marlboro lights and absently flipping through a magazine. She wasn’t really reading it, she was trying to digest everything she had just been told. She had made it clear to Seven that they were not prisoners, and if they confronted her and wanted to leave she wasn’t going to stop them, but she was right when she said that Seven probably shouldn’t go out in public. She knew they were from the future, but she didn’t want to ask them crazy things about it, in fact, she was just glad to have guests in her usually empty six bedroom estate.

When she finally looked up from her magazine she saw that it was nearly six o’clock at night. She had discovered the space ship around two that afternoon and had barely realized that much time had passed. She was about to pour herself another vodka and lemonade drink when she decided that she should probably start thinking about dinner. She never cooked for herself, and even though the money left to her from her parents was more then enough for a private chef, she didn’t trust anyone enough to prepare food in her own house. From restaurants it was fine because people there didn’t know her and weren’t out to get her, but she figured that anyone willing to work for her would have a vendetta against her and eventually would poison her. She was rather paranoid in that way. She stood up and walked into the kitchen and opened a drawer where she pulled out a stack of take out menus from a myriad of different places. She then headed back upstairs and knocked on the door to the guest room.

“Come in.” Kathryn’s voice called and so she opened the door and walked in. Seven was standing across from the foot of the bed, leaning against the dresser that was set up in there. Janeway was still on the bed, she had a bruise forming around her eye but it didn’t look like it was effecting her in the least. Monica walked over to Janeway and set the stack of take out menus on the bed.

“I order out for dinner, choose whatever you want from wherever you want, don’t worry about breaking my bank either.” Monica said, she wondered why Janeway hadn’t made a move to go see her spaceship, when she noticed that the woman’s foot was up on a pillow with one boot off. Monica was no doctor but it didn’t take one to see that the ankle was terribly swollen. Whatever was wrong with it would probably need to be found out by an actual doctor. Janeway smiled at her and reached for the menus, Seven said absolutely nothing and continued to keep her gaze on the captain. She began to wonder what kind of food they had 300 years in the future. Was it different? Did they all just take injections or pills? She didn’t want to ask these questions and sound like an idiot so she decided to keep her mouth shut about them, “Look I know you probably aren’t allowed to tell me anything about the future cause of…what did Seven call it….the prime directive? Anyway, can you just assure me that aliens didn’t colonize earth and we are a very thriving species in the future?”

“There was no alien colonization….” Janeway replied and it looked to Monica like she was trying not to laugh. That didn’t bother her too much, most people laughed at her theories, especially the ones about not actually landing on the moon, “Where did you get an idea like that.”

“Internet.” Monica replied and then shrugged slightly, Janeway made a face like she had never heard of that in her life and Monica was starting to believe that she actually was from the future. “The world wide web….a connection of computers through telephone wires?” She added, trying to provide more of an explanation. Surely Janeway knew about this, Monica thought, because she knew about telegraphs and she had never used one of those a day in her life. Janeway finally made a face like she understood what Monica was talking about.

“Well there’s no need to worry things are just fine in the future.” Janeway said reassuringly as she skimmed over a few menus. Monica turned to look at Seven, who had fixed her hair in the time that Monica was gone, and then back to Janeway.

“Does she eat?” Monica tried to whisper and gesture at Seven at the same time. Janeway looked up and sort of laughed, Monica liked the sound of it. Seven arched an eyebrow but didn’t say anything.

“Yeah she can eat, she’s not very fond of it but she’ll eat.” Janeway replied and then stopped on the menu she was reading, “How about pizza?” She was mostly asking the question to Seven.

“Pizza, a flat, round piece of dough cover with a tomato based sauce, cheese, and various vegetables and or meat?” Seven replied, Monica had to bite her lip to keep from laughing out loud. Whatever Seven was, she was sure good at stating the obvious. To her it seemed that Janeway knew what she was talking about, that she had actually had pizza in some point of her life. Seven on the other hand seemed to know what it was, but had never had it. It was hard for her to fathom that someone had never tasted pizza.

“Yeah you got it slick.” Monica said, trying to keep the bubbles of laughter in her voice under wraps, “what do you want on it?”

“I’ll eat anything you put on a pizza, as for Seven…” Janeway looked over to her partner and trailed off.

“I’ll get one plain and one with mushrooms and pepperoni, sound good?” Monica said after calming her voice to a regular tone. Seven had said that she was a human being, but Monica wasn’t believing that for a second. She wasn’t going to say anything but she was convinced that Seven was some sort of android or robot. Until she got a further explanation, one she would not fish for, then she would keep on believing that Seven was mechanical.

“Yes, and if it’s not too much trouble a cup of coffee would be great.” Janeway said and Monica nodded slightly. She only ever drank coffee in the morning and rarely at that, but she did keep some in the house just incase someone came over and wanted some, as rare as that was. She had a Kona blend that came from Hawaii and was about fifty dollars a pound, but it was the only stuff she would touch and she was sure that Kathryn wouldn’t mind.

“No trouble, I’ll make a pot.” Monica said and then smiled slightly, “I’ll go order the pizza too. There’s a TV and a DVD player in that dresser that Seven is standing against the remote is on the bedside table and…” She suddenly realized that she was probably talking gibberish to them. Seven moved out of the way and opened the doors to the dresser to reveal the flat screen TV kept in there on a shelf, below it was the DVD player. Monica walked over to the table next to the bed and picked up the remote for the TV and handed it to Janeway.

“The power button is this green one, and the channel and volume buttons are marked….although knowing my luck you people don’t have TV’s in the future.” Monica said and then pressed the power button on the remote. The TV flickered on to channel three which was broadcasting news at that time.

“I believe Lt. Paris has one of these.” Seven said, aiming her comment at Janeway. “This one is in color though.” Janeway turned and smiled at Monica.

“Thank you,” Janeway said, “I hope we aren’t causing too much trouble.”

“No trouble at all, I’ll see if I can round up a doctor to check out your ankle.” Monica said and she had connections. As paranoid as she was about everything she had a private physician who was at her beck and call. She always thought she was coming down with something, a new flu or maybe even a case of lime disease, in any case her doctor was highly paid to keep her mouth shut about things that went on at the Edwards estate and so Monica trusted her enough to bring her in on this one. “Some people would say I have more money then God. If you two want separate rooms then you are welcome to look in the other bedrooms, just stay out of mine, it’s the biggest and the only one with a computer in it. If you two want to stay together that’s cool too. I told Seven earlier that you are not prisoners, you can come and go as you please I won’t make you do anything you don’t want.”

“That’s very kind of you.” Janeway replied, Monica nodded and then left the room after picking up the take out menus from the bed. She was heading down the stairs when she heard the phone start to ring. She ran to the kitchen, where the nearest phone was, and picked it up.

“Hello?”

“Hey M, it’s Lang…” Langley said almost before she could get the complete greeting out of her mouth, “Agents Mulder and Scully are on their way to your house.”

“Agents? As in FBI agents? Langley I thought you were cool…” Monica snapped trying not to raise her voice, she didn’t want to alert her two new friends as to what was going on. She walked over to the freezer and took out the bag of coffee and went over to the machine on the counter across from the freezer, “You can’t send FBI agents here, they’ll screw everything up! The government is not our friend and I’ll get them the hell out of here before I let them—“

“Whoa, calm down there sister, they are cool. Long time friends of ours, in fact agent Mulder is as close to a conspiracy theorist as you’ll get in the FBI….just trust me on this okay?” Langley interrupted her.  She did only know him over the phone and online, but she had known him that way for about five years, he had never done anything to compromise her at all. If there was anyone in the world she did trust then it would have to be Langley.

“Okay, I trust you but if they aren’t cool I’ll get out my 9mm and shoot them, you know that right? I could hire the best lawyers in the world to bail me out of that mess, you know that too right?” Monica replied but she had a smile on her face. She poured the coffee into the machine, followed by the appropriate amount of water and then pressed the button to start it after closing the lid.

“Ask her if that robot chick is single.” She heard Frohike say in the background.

“Shut up! Anyway I know you can pretty much do whatever you want but I promise they are cool. Scully’s a little skeptical but Mulder won’t do anything to expose you guys.” Langley replied, “Gotta go, catch you later.” Then that was it, there was a click on the line and Monica took in a deep breath and sighed. She pressed the off button on the phone and then dialed the number to the pizza place, which was stored in her memory. She reached up a hand to the cross around her neck and gripped it tightly, she was far from a strict Catholic but just for a moment, while the line on the other end was ringing, she prayed.
