Centre Georges Pompidou
Next stop: the Pompidou Center to visit the Musee National d'Art Moderne (modern art museum). We took the escalator to the top for panoramic views of the city.  We saw quite a variety of 'art': old scooters, vintage furniture, dead birds wrapped in socks, giant bananas hanging from the ceiling, and a canvas covered with only blue velvet.  Oh, and we also saw famous works by Matisse, Picasso, Agam, and Kandinsky...
Paris - Continued
Arc de Triomphe
What would our trip have been without a visit to the top of the Arc de Triomphe, where Evan proposed nearly 2 years ago?!?  When we arrived, there was a ceremony for war veterans in progress, so we had to wait about 30 minutes before going to the top.  In the meantime, we started a conversation (in English) with the guy who was holding the crowds back.  He was extremely friendly (yes, he was Parisian).  After telling him our story, he gave us 2 commemorative medallions with the Arc de Triomphe on them.  He also let us know that we were in for a special treat once we got to the top of the Arc, as the Eiffel Tower was going to have a special light show...
Paris - Day 3
After so much sightseeing on Saturday, we were very tired!  We decided to make Sunday a bit more leisurely...  We were going to climb to the top of Notre Dame, but when we found out it was over 400 steps, we decided that probably wasn't a very 'leisurely' way to start the day...
Instead, we decided to walk through the Jewish Quarter.  We were very excited to come upon Judaica stores & falafel restaurants; of course, that's what we ate for lunch.  It was funny to see the words "Shawarma" and "Baguette" in the same window!  Evan even spoke Hebrew with one of the French shopkeepers!
La Grande Arche de la Defense
Afterwards, we took the metro to La Defense in order to get a panoramic view of Paris from La Grande Arche.  This building is so large that Notre Dame could fit underneath it!  (The 'scaffolding' in the middle of the Arch is the elevator that takes you to the top.)
Then, we took a ride on a Bateaux-Mouche (boat ride on the Seine) to recap all of the things we had seen...It was touristy, but fun.  In such a short time, we were able to see and do so much - it's no surprise that we were tired!  We had a great time!
