Zinnia (August, 2001)

Data
Breeding: Envy
Seeded date: Mid April, 2001
Photographed date: 8/27/2001

Sensation score: **

Spring blooming bulbs already had faded, and perennial flowers were growing so slowly that the balcony was missing some flowers at the mid spring. So, some annual flowers, which grow quickly and easily, were expected.
Though there are various kinds of zinnias, this zinnia is a curious breeding with green flowers. However, it might have been wrong to plant 4 of such large plants in a small container. They must have been bigger.
Because the summer in California is hot and dry, the zinnias look always thirsty and they sometimes require watering twice a day especially on hot days, otherwise they lose vigor.
If you pick the growing part during the growth, it gets more branches and finally has more flowers.
