This organization is designed exclusively for charitable and educational purposes within the meaning of section 501 C(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The purpose of the organization shall be to maintain an association of persons interested in and supportive of this library; to focus public attention on the library in order to inform the public of library benefits; to stimulate effective use of the present library's resources and services; to support and cooperate with the library in developing additional necessary and desirable library services and facilities for the community; and to encourage the library's provision of cultural activities needed by the community.

As of January 14, 2005 the "Friends" organization has a roll of 52 active members.
Book Bags: In December 100 book bags were purchased to sell as a fund raiser. The bags are black with a picture of the library etched in white.
Cost of the bag is $8.00.
Book Drive and Sale: As of December the library has donated all old books, left over from previous book sales, to area organizations. If you have any books that you would like to donate for the next book sale, which is scheduled for Friday Oct. 21st and Saturday Oct. 22, 2005, please bring those to the library. Reciepts of these donations can be acquired but may take time to process so please leave your name and number with a member of the library staff.
Spring Luncheon With A Kentucky Author: Tentative date is April 28, 2005. Guest speaker will be Lalie Dick. A chairman and volunteers are needed please contact the library to offer your services.
Sign For The Library: A committee has been appointed to seek a design and the cost of a sign to be placed in front of the library.
They will report at the April meeting.
Art Show: We have tentatively scheduled a two day event for Nov. 12th and 13th 2005. One day will be held for Marion County artists and
the second will be open to out of county artists.
Pennies For Children's Books: The friends have decided to place collection jars, labelled "pennies for children's books" on the front counters of participating local businesses. The money collected from these jars will then go to purchase new children's titles for the library.
Christmas Tea~Afternoon With The Author: Tentative date is Dec. 8, 2005 depending upon the selection/availabilty of the author. Chairman and Volunteers needed. Please contact the library to offer your services.
Children's Summer Reading Program: Members present at the Jan. 13th 2005 meeting approved $240.00 for a special program to be held during the library's summer reading program. The 2005 SRP theme is "Dragon's, Dreams and Daring Deeds". Performer John Strauss from Louisville will present the program dressed as a court jester.
