This is my Second MAME Cabinet Project and it's for my Friend called Abanto's Arcade. This Cabinet is Double Dragon cabinet (Not working and was poorly taken care off) that I got for free when I bought my Cocktail Cab (I'm Planning to make a Cocktail cab in the near future). When he saw my cabinet he liked the concept and decided that he wanted one also. Since I already have one and the guy that I got the cocktail cab was just giving this cab away, we decided to restore and clean this up.
I should have taken a picture of this Cabinet before we clean it up to compare how it looks and the finished project (next time I'll do that). It was ugly and dirty, the marquee is torn, dust every where, the side arts are vandalized and torn and the corners all ruin. Even my friend's wife thought it was a goner, but I told him that it's not that bad and it will look good by the time were done with it.
So we remove the side art and painted it black. Clean it up and putty up all the defects and installed a Sylvania 20" PFT stereo Color TV with S-video out (my friend want to watch TV on it once and a while). The bezel is an authentic arcade bezel that was ordered at HappsControls. We drilled a small hole just where the infared are so that he can still control the TV without removing the glass and bezel. Powered by Emachine T1220 which he got for cheap for $399 (after rebate) Powered by Windows XP home edition that comes with the computer, it has an Intel® Celeron® Processor 1.20 GHz which is powerful enough to run all games that MAME is supported. I also installed ZINc emulator on it and it runs the game flawless.
Here is the Control Panel, the Joystick is a SuperJoystick that was order from happs. The Track ball is a CompUSA Trackball that hacked and replaced the crystal ball with a red marble trackball (from a non-working trackball that I have). It has 6 buttons each to support most fighting games. The Marquee is customized it was called the Abanto's Arcade due to it belongs to my Friend the Abanto Family. Since we finished this project I have been asked by his friend and a couple of my friend to make them one too. I will be posting more of my finish project here.
