Mario & Wario

NOTE: THIS SITE DOES NOT CONDONE EMULATION. IF YOU WANT ROMS, GO ELSEWHERE. USE THEM AT YOUR OWN RISK, AND DON'T BLME ME FOR ANYTHING THAT HAPPENS.

Developer: Nintendo
Publisher: Nintendo

Year released: 1993 (Japan only)

Number of players: 1

Mario & Wario was only released in Japan, so the only way everyone living outside of Japan can play this game, unfortunately, is by playing the ROM.

Gameplay: (75%)
Mario & Wario is a strategy game. You play as Wanda the Fairy (who is also from Wario's Woods), and you must guide either Peach, Mario, or Yoshi (you get to choose) to Luigi, who will take the object, dropped on your head by Wario, off. Sounds easy, huh? Wrong. There are obstacles in most of the courses, such as enemies and spikes. One touch by either one, and you're dead. Also, if the time limit runs out, then you'll die. The gameplay formula is fun and simple for the most part, but gets boring easily.

Controls: (95%)
Extremely easy to learn. You control Wanda by using the SNES mouse. By pressing the left button, you wave your wand. Waving your wand hits blocks and kills certain enemies. You can also use your want to hit the object on the character you picked at the beginning's head, which makes them turn in the opposite direction.

Visuals: (75%)
Simple. Not too great, but not too bad. The sprites used in M&W are all new and not from SMW. Backgrounds are detailed with characters from Mario games, such as Yoshis, etc.

Sounds: (70%)
The music in M&W is decent; it's catchy but repetetive at times. The music is suitable for the game, however.

Replayability: (65%)
Mario & Wario is fun to try out a few times, but just doesn't have much replay value.

Final Words:
Mario & Wario is a pretty fun game while it lasts. It is pretty challenging, but doesn't have much replay value.

Score: (75%) C
