Phi Theta Kappa Goes to Satilla River

On January 20, nine people representing Omicron Omega chapter of Phi Theta Kappa participated in the Georgia Adopt-a-Stream Project. They chose to go to the Satilla River. They took a boat and three canoes to Waycross. There they unloaded their canoes and went down stream, picking up trash in the river and along its banks. They filled six garbage bags. They also made different measurements of the river and conductecd chemical tests of the river water. These figures will be sent in to a central office.

Although the day was cold and wet, the group reported that they enjoyed the excursion and are looking forward to their next outing in April. Jonathan Patterson, the Phi Theta Kappa organizer of th eexpedition, says that he would welcome other members of the college community the next time the group goes to the river.
