Wasn’t Kirk Nugent OUTSTANDING?! Those of you who gave the SLAM POET performance were delighted, too! We have RAVE reviews of Kirk, and he received simply thunderous applause upon completion of his performance. Thanks to everyone who took a chance and attended an event that was a little different! Many of you said to bring him back, so be watching for a return engagement.
Speaking of OUTSTANDING, how about those FOUR SHADOW guys! Great show, great voices, lots of fun, and just a great time!
“To be or not to be?” That is hardly the question! The question is do you want to miss the NATIONAL SHAKESPEARE COMPANY’S presentation of TWELFTH NIGHT. The incredibly talented ensemble cast of eight members will simply amaze you with their performance of one of the Bard’s best comedies. This unique presentation of Twelfth Night is set in the 1920's era of vaudeville and post-war luxury and celebration. Join un FRIDAY NIGHT, FEBRUARY 16th, in the Conference Center Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free, of course, and you are welcome to bring friends and family. Come early, though-by 7:15 at the latest-as this is sure to be an SRO performance.
If men are from Mars and women from Venus,
What is really the difference between us?
That is the question that we hope to address at NOON ON TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 13th. Dave Leenhouts, Director of Student Life, will be presenting a shortened version of his program on the gender wars and gender gap. This is breezy look at the differences that make relationships so exciting-and frustrating! The place to be is the Student Center. If men are mystery to you or if you are wondering about women, then this is the program for you!
Test your basketball skills! MAP/MASDA is hosting a 3-ON-3 BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT in the gym on SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 18th. Talk with Ms. Lee, Nigel Mott, or Carlos Herrington for details.
The annual all-campus BLACK HISTORY PROGRAM is on FEBRUARY 27th at 12:15 p.m. This year’s program should be one of the most exciting and entertaining shows ever as Savannah State College’s Pan-hellenic Board And Interfraternity Council present the ALL- STAR STEP SHOW! The moves will be cool, fast, and jammin’, so don’t miss the good time in the Conference Center Auditorium on that last Tuesday in February. The show is free, and so is the excitement!
Speaking of excitement and good times, is anyone ready for the ANNUAL ALL-CAMPUS SEMI-FORMAL DANCE? Yes, it’s that time of year when you can re-live the prom, party down, dance the night away, and finally show that girl in your history class that you DO have moves! This year’s event is being held at the Embassy Suites Hotel (at the Mall). The party begins at 9 p.m. and is FREE to students and their guests. Lots of free food, the coolest party favors (miniature brandy sniffers), $400 in door prizes to be given away, great jams from Video Dance Party Inc.-and all of you! The date is SATURDAY, MARCH 3rd. If you are thinking about renting a tux for the event or want an eye-popping dress, check out Gentlemen’s Outfitters in the Mall for the men and CG’s Formals for the ladies. Flash your CGCC ID cards and get discounts! YES, THIS MEANS LEAVE THE BLUE JEANS AT HOME!
Start eating the raisins and get ready to roll up those sleeves! The Red Cross will be on campus for a BLOOD DRIVE on WEDNESDAY, MARCH 7th. The drive will be held in the Student Center from 9 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Nationwide there is a shortage of blood products, and there is no substitute for blood. Do your part to save lives: GIVE A PINT OF BLOOD.
STILL TO COME: more SHAKESPEARE in April, some ALL-CAMPUS ANTICS in the commons area, and the famous SEARCH FOR THE GOLDEN GOLF BALL. Also, if this is spring semester, can FIRST COPY be far behind?
