Toronto Sun - Trish Invades Toronto

Nobody heckles World Wrestling Entertainment superstar Trish Stratus when she is acting on stage for fear of being put in a sleeper hold. Last night, the Toronto native and wrestling diva appeared in a production of Invasion Free Since 1812 at The Second City.

Stratus didn't need to slam anyone to the mat as the audience -- many of whom were WWE fans -- loved her skits.

"I'm an entertainer and I'm always looking for ways to step out of the box," Stratus said.

"I'm also excited to have the opportunity to be a part of the great comedy tradition that is The Second City."

'ABSOLUTELY TERRIFIC'

After watching a recent performance of Invasion Free, Stratus approached Second City and asked to appear in a performance of the show.

"I had a chance to see Trish on MAD TV and thought she was absolutely terrific," said Andrew Alexander, executive producer of the show.

"We jumped at the chance to have her on stage with our cast when she expressed her interest in Second City.

Invasion Free is a satirical commentary on local, national and global issues.

Stratus opened the show and made fun of the wrestling world.

She also made fun of the CBC and made-out with a sock puppet. More
