I am a complete gardening amateur. But I thought it would be nice to brighten the place up and try and grow something. So the husband and I went along to the Camden Garden Centre just past Kings Cross. The Garden Centre were quite hard to find (we don't drive and ended up walking there from Kings Cross station in the pouring rain) But the centre itself was quite well stocked and I asked for some advice on what I could grow on the balcony, they seemed to be steering me towards tulips but I wanted something a bit more exciting looking. So in the end decided on some Whitewell Purple Crocus bulbs. In Mid November (2005) I planted the 25 Crocus bulbs (Whitewell Purple) in a big terracotta pot on our balcony, and this is my Crocus diary! Please sign my guestbook to show that you have paid a visit, thanks :-)

11th February 2006 I thought I would take a closer look at the pot today as I was wondering how the other 15 crocus bulbs were going. So I gently moved some soil out of the way with my finger. Guess what - I found the other 15 shoots just below the surface. The soil must have been a little bit too tough for them to break through, so I helped them along a little bit and npw they are all peaking out and will get some sunlight. I am very happy to report that all 25 are fine :-) It's only 2 weeks since we discovered the first shoot and now they are all out!
18th February 2006 - Strange goings on The Crosuses are now thriving so much that there are more in the pot than I actually planted. There are more than 30 (ok, so I lost count, maths never was a strong point) Click here or on the picture above of the Pot for more information. If you can shed any light on this, email me or leave a message in the Guestbook. Ta.
25th February 2006 - Crocus Watch mentioned on LBC97.3 On a very windy and slightly sunny day, Wendy Lloyd was talking about peoples "Blogs" on LBC97.3 Radio. Although not technically a Blog I emailed about CrocusWatch and she mentioned it, I think she thought it was boring (shes not the first!), but I don't care :-P
4th March 2006 - Great News - The Crocuses have started to flower Click on the picture of the pot on the top right of the screen or the flower on the left to see more pictures and inormation. They look very pretty and I am pleased and surprised that they have started to flower so soon!
