OLD BALDWIN PHOTOS
The photos on this page were given to me by an elderly and very ill cousin so I was unable to get much information about them except what was written on the backs. (Please, please label your photos well so your descendants will know who is in the photos, someday WE will be the ancestors in the old photos!)
My great-grandfather, John B. Baldwin was born in Ashe County, North Carolina in October, 1849 and died in Rogersville, Tennessee in 1927. He married Nancy Jane Palmer on July 30, 1870. Nancy Jane was born in Rogersville, Tennessee in December, 1846 and died there in 1926. They had 6 daughters; Martha, Sarah Ellen, Mary Josie, then the twins, Matilda Jane and Virginia E. and last was my grandmother, Viola Ann. Their 3 sons were; James, William M. and John M. I do not know which of the children are portrayed in the photo and unfortunately, I don't recognize the twin girls or my grandmother. Presumably, those are grandchildren in the front. My mother, Anna Lucille, looks exactly like Nancy Jane in this photo. Nancy Jane was a midwife and she delivered my mother.

Unfortunately, this photo had no writing on the back of it but the young man on the left looks remarkably like the father in the prior photo, don't you think so? If true, then the elderly man beside him, presumably his father, would be my great-grandfather, James H. Baldwin and his sons. I only know of three, William, John and Gilbert, but there could have been more.
