HOW TO LOOK FOR A PLACE TO RENT ON THE INTERNET

Before  you start looking for a place to rent, study these want ad abbreviations and do one or both of these exercises:

There are many ways to look for a place to rent on the Internet.  One way is to use Craigslist.  Craigslist is a list of classified ads which are just like the ones  you find in the newspaper.  Here�s how to do it:

1. Go to
www.craigslist.org

2. Go to the Housing section.  The first link is
apts/housing.  It�s on top of your page in the middle.  Click on it

3. If  you look on top of the  screen, you�ll see the different areas in blue: San Francsico, South Bay, East Bay etc.  Click on the area where  you want to rent.  South San Francisco, San Bruno, Pacifica, etc arte part of the Peninsula.

4. Where it says Rent you can enter (type) the minimum (min) and the maximum (max) you want to spend.  Click on
min and max to type what you want to spend.

5. Where it says
0+ BR, click on the arrow going down and choose the number of bedrooms that you need.

6. If you have cats or dogs, click on the square next to cats or next to dogs.

7. Now click on the
Search button.

8. Every blue line that appears down below is an apartment or a house for rent.  To read the ad, click on the blue line.

9. To go back to the list, click on the green
Back button on the top of your screen.

Find an apartment or a house which looks interesting to you and write the information below:

How much is the rent? _________________________________
How many bedrooms? _________________________________
How many bathrooms? ________________________________
What is the contact information? ________________________
Anything else you want to say about this ad? _______________
