Maria Frisby currently reigns as the 2004 Ms. Pennsylvania U.S. Beauties. She recently was named 2nd runner-up and won the Inspiration Award at the U.S. Beauties National Pageant in Bloomingdale, Illinois. She is a published poet and professional model/actress with on-camera training. She was a special guest on New York's Time Warner Cable TV Show the Dave Gold Show. During the show titled "An Evening with Maria Frisby" Maria performed a drama monologue, recited a poem that she wrote about 9/11 called "It Happened One Day", sang a song called Imagine, and was a cohost during the show. She was a featured extra in a major motion picture shot in Arizona called "The Getaway" starring Kim Basinger and Alec Baldwin. She has done print and runway modeling. An autographed 8X10 photograph of Maria was selected by De La Salle Theatre Manager David Surham for inclusion into the foyer exhibition of the of the De La Salle Theatre in Bournemouth, England. She represented Central PA in the 1997 Mrs. Pennsylvania America pageant. She was selected as a finalist in the female acting/drama category of the National Showcase Awards in Phoenix, AZ. She graduated from Penn State University and Harrisburg Area Community College. She is a former emergency medical technician, special agent, and security manager. She is involved in community service. She is the founder of the Angels of Mercy. The Angels of Mercy are a group of children whom she has taken to hospitals, homeless missions, and nursing homes to visit and share their time and talent(singing) with the elderly, sick, and homeless. She also did a 9/11 project. She raised money and sent family members of victims killed on 9/11 to an amusement park. Some of the awards she received include Dean's List Honors at Penn State University, Incentive/Achievement Award for superior academic achievement at Penn State, the President's Award for Literary Excellency 2000, President's Award for Literary Excellency 2001, Golden Poet Award, Poet of the Year Award, Unsung Heroine Heroine Award for being a Role Model for Youth in Central PA, and the Making a Difference Award from WHP-TV 21 in Central PA. Her skills include performing psa's, drama, and commercials on camera, acting, modeling,singing, playing basketball, writing poetry, and E.M.T. skills. An inspirational story about Maria is featured in the January 2004 edition of the national magazine H2 Model& Pageantry Magazine. |
