Lucero's Biography-Mariachi History

Biography: My Name is Lucero Delgado and I have been performing mariachi for ten years. Throughout these ten years, I have played with many mariachi groups such as Mariachi Juvenil Sol De Mexico, Mariachi Herencia Mexicana, Mariachi Las Adelitas, Mariachi Las Alondras, Mariachi Mujer 2000, Mariachi Divas, and I am currently performing now with Mariachi Los Pasajeros iin Los Angeles. I have traveled to several states performing mariachi music, and I have been able to share the stage with other various mariachi groups along with famous celebrities at events such as Mariachi USA and conferences that take place all over United States. Performing mariachi music has taken a great part of my life and I am very greatful to all the people who have been part of it.

One of the reasons for creating this site is to express my gratitude to those people who have helped me in my musical professional career as a "Mariachi Musician" and have given me moral support. The list will go on for ever if I could list them all, but most sincerely I want to thank my first Mariachi instructor who was and will always be Laura Sobrino (musical director for Mariachi Mujer 2000). I had the honor to work with her in Mariachi Mujer 2000 as well as with the rest of the girls in the group. There are those who have inspired me very much in my musical playing and singing that I would also like to mention: Jose Luis Salinas, Ernesto Molina, "Opo", Fernando Moreno, and Heriberto Molina (my first voice teacher). However, there is one person who I will never forget to thank and his name is Richard Melendrez. He gave me FREE violin lessons on classical music for about two years. He always believed that I could become the best concert violinist and do anything with my life. To continue on with my list I need to thank my family for all their support in the world. This message is most especially for all my "Mariachi Colleagues" that I have worked with in the past ten years, I learned a lot from each and everyone of you. Performing mariachi music is the best experience of my life, and I will never stop playing the music because it is my passion and it is my culture.

I have finished my teaching credential program at Cal State Long Beach and am working as a first grade teacher for L.A.U.S.D. I am also currently enrolled at a private university completing a Master's degree in education. I would like to take this opportunity to ask for any donations such as materials that I need as a first grade teacher. Paper to copy is a big issue at my school therefore, need copy paper to create homework packets for my children. I also need magazines or children’s literature to create my classroom library. If anyone works for a big company name brand store and would like to suggest other items please let me know. I work with a 99.9% predominately Hispanic school and my children would very much benefit from material that they can have in the classroom such as pictures of animals, pictures of professionals in the work field, and more. My children and I will appreciate the effort and time from you.
