The Mariachi Scholarship Foundtion supports the study and performance of mariachi music in schools and awards college scholarships.

TRADITION, PRIDE, AND ACHIEVEMENT
The link between the performing arts and high academic achievement is well known. Through Mariachi music, students have the opportunity to develop an appreciation of the Mexican culture and its rich musical heritage.
By practicing and performing, students strengthen their self-confidence and develop discipline-qualities that carry over into classroom success. Providing students with a way to fully grasp the Mariachi experience gives them a sense of pride, an opportunity for expression and a true feeling of accomplishment.
THE MARIACHI SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION
The Mariachi Foundation supports students who have expressed a desire to attend a college or university and develop their rich Mariachi heritage. To help students achieve their goals, the Foundation raises funds through corporate donations, concerts and special events. So far, more than $50,000 in scholarships have been awarded. Today, students at Southwestern College and San Diego State University are completing their degrees because Mariachi inspired them to excel!
MARIACHI
is the music to be learned- and experienced. Premier-quality events allow students to both perform and learn from masters of the art. At the Fall Concert and Workshop, for example, Sweetwater Mariachis train with professionals and then perform at such prestigious venues as San Diego Symphony Hall. Likewise, the popular Spring Concert fills the air with a cultural celebration that has become a South Bay highlight.
CHALLENGING CURRICULUM
Mariachi in the Schools extends far beyond performance. This program�s high quality Mariachi curriculum- now in seven high schools and middle schools- has attracted attention throughout San Diego County. Mariachi in the Schools also gets younger students involved through an introductory elementary program. Classes focus on specific instruments, individual talents and competitive-level performance among schools. Through the Mariachi in the Schools, the Sweetwater District is leading the way in creative education.
LEARNING FROM PROFESSIONALS
One of the unique advantages for students is the opportunity to be mentored by world-renowned Mariachis. Acclaimed groups such as Mariachi Campanas de Am�rica, Mariachi Sol de M�xico, and Mariachi Champa�a Nevin both instruct and inspire the young musicians in technique and stage presence.
