The efforts to create sanctuaries for the protection of the whales in the South Pacific and the South Atlantic have failed, because Japan and their allies in favor of the hunting of whales defeated the worried nations to protect the populations of whales.Japan and others countries have been pressing to finish the existing moratorium of 15 years hunting of commercial whales, and the defenders of the sanctuaries have argued the importance that this moratorium continue to provide protection to the whales. Some conservation people have alleged that Japan has bought votes of countries in process of development. a number of poor countries, including six nations of the Caribbean, voted with Japan and Norway. " This was not a voting, was an auction and Japan was the higher bidder ",Said Mick Mc Intyre of the International board for the animal welfare (IFAW). Japan and the underdeveloped nations deny the accusation and say to have simply similars interest in the hunting of Twenty whales countries voted by the Sanctuary of the South Pacific , 13 voted against and four abstained. One three quarters mayority was necessary to establish the sanctuary. Australia and New Zealand, which they sponsored the proposal of creation of the Sanctuary of the South Pacific for the second time, said that to this Sanctuary would have protected the areas of breeding of 11 great species of the whale. They also said that the mayority of the species has not yet recovered of the devastating diminution of the population undergone before dictating the commercial moratorium for the commercial hunting of whales imposed in 1986. Brazil, main sponsor of the creation of the Sanctuary of the South Atlantic, maintained that it is necessary to protect the 10 species in the region, whose populations were affected by the commercial hunting. The South Atlantic, was until the seventy place indicated for the clandestine slaughters of the protected species. The United States supported both Sanctuaries. " We see a zone in the South hemisphere, that includes the Pacific Ocean and Atlantic in where the impact of the man can be reduced to the minimum on the great whales ", said Rollie Schmitten of the Ministry of the USA Commerce. The supporters said that the santuaries complementarian to the already existing zones of protection in the Indic Ocean and Antartic.

Greenpeace tries that the whaling fleet does not start off for the Antartic sea, to hunt the first whales of the season
Anywhere in the world, members of Greenpeace are asking to the government of Japan that no to send the whaling fleet to the Antartic sea
The nippon plan, is to hunt 440 whales of the Minke species (Balaenoptera Bonaerensis), transgressing the call of the international Whaling commission (CBI), that forces Japan " to stop the lethal capture of whales "
The whaling fleet Japanese counts with a factory boat, three harpooners and a search boat ready to start off from the port of Shimonoseki,South Japan
Personal Opinion
Near 25% of species of mammals, are in extinction danger
25% approximately of the species of reptils are in extinction danger
30% of fish species are threatened
In the last hundred years, almost thousand races were lost
The animal list in danger is very extensive. Contrary there is a list of species that do not run this risk and its pretty shorter, like the Cockroach, the Mosquito, the Fly, the Louse, the Vinchuca, etc.
Unlike other beings like the whales, that to follow this way, the coming generations would know them by photos and will study them like fossils
If this passed, I hope not, I wish that all the people, governments and countries that are in favor of the hunting of whales, have an explanation, (if it is that there is it), of because they extinguished to this cetacea
On the other hand there are Ecological Organizations everywhere, whom fight day in day out, almost doing a meticulous work for this things do not happen , while some people try to sometimes throw overboard in a second, that honorable work that they make year after year
Those Organizations, surely do not lower never the arms and they 'll keep ahead as always they did it, so that all we live in a better world, because they fight by the life, because they know that million people we value and support what they do four " our world "
I hope that the songs of the whales never extinguished...
