Grade 4As News Teachers: Mrs. Muto-Pomakis and Mme. Campeau Wow! How the time is passing by! Were already into March and thank goodness that it came in like a lamb rather than a lion. Heres hoping that our ski trip wont be cancelled this time around. March Break is just around the corner which also means that report cards will soon be upon us. Most projects have been completed by now, and were looking forward to starting a new chapter after the March Break! Were also celebrating our new 4A website with sticker prizes for the month of March. Check out the website and some of your childs work at : www.geocities.com/maria_muto/CC4Ahome. |

| Mme Campeau writes: In French, we are continuing to practice writing simple French sentences. Also, we are learning to conjugate verbs in IR (second group) at the present tense. Next DICTE will be on March 10th. In Social Studies, we are currently working on creating medieval shields. Also, your child will be assigned an individual project this month, which will be due for April 13th. The project consists of building a miniature castle and writing a comparison between the medieval time and today. In Science, we will begin a small unit on Pulleys and Gears so that we can include certain concepts in the building of our Social Studies castles. We will be going to Science and Technology Museum on March 28th, for a special workshop on this subject. If you would like to volunteer to accompany our class on this trip, please let me know in your childs agenda. Sincerely,Mme Campeau |

| Mrs. Muto-Pomakis writes: In Math, we are starting a unit on multiplication. This unit will formally begin after the March Break but well be doing math minutes to prep our students for the up-coming unit. Feel free to try out some of the math games that can be found at the math website attached to our home website. (Its from the Nelson Series, which is our textbook for class!) In Language Arts the students did an amazing job with their file folder book reports. We will continue to work on the various parts of speech, and re-start our Nifty Fifty words. The next Word Wall Words test will be on the 23rd of March, and the Nifty Fifty Words test will be on the 31st of March. We will also be starting a novel study as soon as we return from the March Break. The novel is called Castle in the Attic and relates to the Social Studies unit of medieval times, which Madame Campeau has been working on with the students. Please dont read ahead just yet as well be doing some predicting together in class, and it wouldnt be fair to know what happens before we get to the book! Thats all for now have a safe and wonderful March Break everyone! Mrs. Muto-Pomakis |
