First I'd
like to say please visit the links page. Most of these people are
experts they know far more than I do. Also visit my book links.
Most of these people are also experts.
They are
high energy dogs. They need lots of room and exercise.
They are
part of the Herding group. I love this because most of the time they
stay close to home. If our gate is somehow left open Gus will stay
in the backyard and Sophie will usually sit on the front porch.
They are
highly intelligent and when they are trained properly they make wonderful
pets. They are working dogs and they need to be challenged.
They are
very devoted to their owners and usually protective.
They shed
year round and alot. They have definite shedding periods where shedding
is profuse. But they still shed all year round. They
need alot of brushing to look their best.
Through
the years we have owned a couple of other breeds. But the GSD in
my opinion is the best most intelligent breed of dog you will ever own.
They are easy to train and are great companions. Their biggest thrill
is pleasing their owners.
