| ALL ABOUT MOM |
| Margaret May Leisher, born at St. Agnes Hospital, Baltimore Maryland on September 13, 1944. She was a wonderful daughter of Elizabeth and John Frey, a loving mother of Laura and Lisa Leisher, and a sister to Ruth Wirth, Bing Frey, Josh Frey, Donnie Frey, and Michael Frey. She also had MANY friends who cared and loved her so much. She was such a very special person, fun-loving, stubborn, and truly devoted to her family. No matter what had to be done she found a way to do it or have it done. She graduated Edmonson High School in 1962........ She met Gilbert "Joey" Leisher in 1976 and got married March 4, 1978, Baby Lisa was born May of '78 and baby Laura was born May of '81 (what a wonderful year). She was working at M.E.T. until Lisa was born. After I came along she started volunteering at St. Clement School, when Lisa switched schools so did mom, she then was volunteering at St. Rose of Lima, until she went to work full time at Koons Reality in 1988, She then ran the office at Dover Elevator. After Dover Elevator shut their doors and laid off many employees she started working at the Teamsters Union Hall ( Local 355), where she was the "credit union manager" and after she got sick went to a "dues processor" where she was currently working up until the doctors forced her to stop working. She would go to work some days when I would be laying up in bed, she was such a fighter!! She was a true believer of always going to work. July '01 mom was diagnoised with lung cancer, she died on May 23, 2003. Between those two dates she struggled so much with the disease. It was a constant battle, she underwent 2 surgies, numerous radiation and chemo-therapy treatments, and a few hospitalizations. It all started in the lung travled to her spine then to her spinal fluid then to the brain. It seemed like whenever she had it under control it would jump somewhere else. For about two months mom was actually in remission. (She was soooo happy the day we found out, I remember Mom, Dad, Lisa and I all went out to lunch to celebrate.) Cancer is a very tough disease and a tiring disease. There would be days that Mom just couldn't get out of bed but then there would be days where she was her normal loving self. My heart goes out to people and their familes who are fighting this disease. I completely understand what individuals and families go through, Its the hardest thing that I have ever been through. |
